Amazon Prime Day 2022: 15 Best Early Offers

Amazon Prime Day is a two-day sale event where Prime subscribers can find hundreds of exclusive offers on products available at the online retailer, although there are many other discounts for non-members. This year, Prime Day is set for July 12 and 13, but you can already get some pretty sly deals for some of our favorite goodies. From Amazon Fire-enabled TVs and speakers to third-party devices, here are some of our favorite early Prime Day 2022 deals.

TCL 6 Series

Photo: TCL

This is our favorite TV for most people (9/10, WIRED recommends), and it’s the lowest price we’ve ever found for the 55-inch model. It has a quantum dot panel for bright colors and uses local blackout zones for deeper blacks in your movies and shows. It has a built-in Roku interface, and the Micro-LED backlight delivers exceptional contrast. This deal is also available from Walmart.

This is one of the most beautiful TVs we have tested. The edges are super slim, the OLED panel is fantastic and delivers deep black and rich colors, and it has an Android TV interface, which means you can also seed from your phone afterwards. It has strange feet at the ends, so it’s best to mount it to the wall unless you have a large TV stand.

This is a basic, entry-level TV from Hisense, but we like the brand and trust its build quality, unlike some of the other generic Amazon TVs we have not tested. You get Dolby Vision support for high dynamic range (read: nicer colors), and a Fire TV built-in to stream your favorite Amazon shows.

If you were looking for an extra large screen, this is one of the best discounts we’ve seen in months on a 75-inch model. It comes with Fire TV on board for easy streaming and Amazon shopping, plus a full range of local eclipses meaning black levels and highlights will look better than on cheaper screens.

Google Pixel 6 Pro

Photo: Google

We are big fans of the Pixel 6 Pro (9/10, WIRED recommends), which takes excellent photos, especially with its 4X optical camera camera. It has a beautiful 120-Hz OLED screen, and it is packed with smart software features that make using this phone a pleasure. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro may be on their way later this year, but it’s still a good buy that will keep you entertained for a while.

Samsung’s Galaxy S22 (9/10, WIRED recommended) is an excellent all-round high-end Android phone. It excels in almost every category, and it will even get Android version upgrades longer than the above Google Pixel (odd, considering that Google maintains the Android operating system). The S22 is a good size, and this sale is on the version with 256 gigabytes of storage. If you want a bigger phone, the S22 Ultra is on sale for $ 1,000. It has a spectacular 10X optical zoom camera that lets you take sharp photos of objects far away.

The A53 5G (8/10, WIRED recommended) has just about every feature most people need, including 5G, NFC for contactless payments, more than a day’s battery life, IP67 water resistance and a MicroSD card slot. Then it goes a step further with high-end perks like a 120-Hz AMOLED screen, four OS upgrades, plus 5 years of security updates. At this price, it is exceptional value.

Apple Watch SE

WIRED senior co-editor Adrienne So calls the Apple Watch SE (8/10, WIRED recommends) the best Apple Watch for most people, which makes it a great time to get it at a discount. It does not have all the health features of the high-end Apple Watch Series 7, but it does have most of those that matter on a daily basis. Read our Apple Watch guide for more details.

The M1 chip has brought a remarkable and fast departure from Apple’s longtime Intel processors, leaving those of us working on the go a little more power for photo editing, music production and a bazillion Chrome tabs. There’s a new MacBook Air on the way next month (it will cost a bit more than the current version), but this 2020 model (9/10, WIRED recommends) is still excellent.

The Pixelbook Go is getting a little old, but it’s still an excellent laptop without frills. It’s a Chromebook, so it’s just a great option for anyone who can work entirely from the Chrome browser (though Android apps are available through the Google Play Store). Read our Best Chromebooks Guide for more details.

You will need to purchase the keyboard attachment to get the most out of this small Windows laptop (any Bluetooth keyboard will work as well). The Surface Go 3 is not very powerful, but it is good enough for simple tasks like browsing the web, sending emails, editing documents and watching YouTube.

Amazon device deals

If you’re in a hurry, these are some great discounts on hardware made by Amazon. However, it is important to know that these devices are likely to drop much further on Prime Day itself. Check out our best Amazon Smart Speaker, Best Smart Screen and Best Power Stick Guides for more.

Echo Dot (4th Gen)

Photo: Amazon

I like more Echo Dots (8/10, WIRED recommends) than just any other smart speaker. They are small, sound very good, and work perfectly for sleeping sounds, timers and a quick check of the weather. Last Prime Day, the price dropped as low as $ 25, so it’s worth the wait. Please read our guide on how to make your Amazon echo as private as possible.

Ever been annoyed that you can not find that favorite show or movie? Amazon is probably your best option, as it has a lot of rental and purchase options (besides the free Amazon Prime Video content). The included voice remote control makes things even easier in terms of navigation. It is likely that this device will drop to $ 25 on Prime Day. We still generally like Roku and Google’s Chromecast With Google TV streaming sticking more, so check out our full recommendations before committing to one.

This is the lowest price we have ever found for the Fire TV Cube. If you want to control your entire home theater system with your voice, the Fire TV cube is a great option. Just connect all your players and game systems to your cube, and then use voice commands to turn things on and off. As we note in our review, things are not always so smooth.

The Echo Show 15 is a great way to put photos of loved ones on the wall, and the Echo Show 5 is a great way to set timers, follow recipes, and check the weather. I like to use one in the living room against the wall, and the other in my kitchen. Read our Best Smart Display Guide for more options.
