2024 VA LB Chris Cole has a “big time” in…

Virginia Tech’s Hockey Fest recruiting weekend was great for all the talented recruits they hosted, including 2024 LB Chris Cole from state football powerhouse Salem HS in Salem, VA.

“I had a great time at the Hokie Festival. The food was great, and I had the opportunity to learn more about the Hokie staff. I learned more about their defense and coverage,” Cole said of how the VT visit went.

So what did Cole do during his visit to Blacksburg?

“We had a great meal, the coaching staff introduced themselves and their families, we played some casual games, and then we went upstairs for pictures and position meetings,” Cole said.

Cole’s visit specifically included time with head coach Brent Pry, Sam LBs/nickel coach Shawn Quinn, and head strength and conditioning coach Dwight Galt. As Cole shared, his time with Pry was good.

“It was great, he made me feel at home, I appreciate his hospitality to me and my family and his vision for the team,” Cole said.

His time with Shawn Quinn gave him an opportunity

“The time we spent with coach Quinn was great. He was very happy to see me and my family. We talked about defense, and what he and the rest of the staff have planned for this season,” Cole said.

His time with Quinn could be invaluable as Tech is recruiting Chris Cole as a Sam linebacker, giving Cole a chance to get a clear look at how he fits into the VT defense.

Tech head strength coach Dwight Galt had a brief message for Cole, as the Salem standout told us.

“Coach Galt is excited to work with me and I look forward to joining the Hokies,” Cole said.

With all this context in mind, what was most special about Cole during his VT tour?

“That’s how nice the staff was to me and my family,” Cole said.

So how did this visit affect his recruiting and where Virginia Tech stands?

“This visit definitely showed me all the reasons why VT stands out in my recruiting options,” Cole said.

Historically, the Hokies have landed football targets the fastest in an hour from Blacksburg, but the Hokies aren’t resting on their laurels in pursuit of Chris Cole. So far, that Virginia Tech is in a strong position in Cole’s recruitment.
