Coral Gables, Fla. (AP) – Nigel Pack scored 17 points in five minutes in the second half, and No. 23 Miami remained unbeaten this season at Virginia Tech 92-83 on Tuesday night. Norchad Omier led Miami with 21 points, Isaiah Wong had 18 and Jordan Miller had 14 for the Hurricanes (17-5, 8-4 Atlantic Coast Conference). Hunter Kator and Sean Pedula each scored 20 for Virginia Tech. 17 and Justin Mutts finished with 10 for the Hokies (13-9, 3-8). The Hurricanes improved to 12-0 at home this season. The last time Miami lost on its home floor was Feb. 26 — to Virginia Tech, it hasn’t won a road game since. And for much of Tuesday night, it looked like the Hokies would leave Coral Gables with another win. Up by five with 8:20 left, Miami-led Pace hit his best drive of the night. Pace went scoreless for the first 32-1/2 minutes of the game. But the 3-pointer with 7:35 left tied the game at 68 and started Indianapolis’ second free throw. He made six consecutive shots in 5:07, including five 3-pointers, the last of which put Miami up 84-76 with 2:28 left. It seems to have inspired him. Virginia Tech shot 29 for 44 – a 66% clip – in the first 35 minutes, then missed the final seven shots as the Hurricanes did enough to win. The final shot was a dunk attempt by Mutts that was blocked by Omier, and Woga Poplar finished the win with a dunk at the other end.
