The Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce is encouraging parents and caregivers with children interested in business to enroll in their upcoming Junior CEO Program.
Junior CEO students learn the basics of business while working at a strawberry-themed dessert restaurant or sales job. At the end of the course, students open their own dessert stand or other approved concept in the Santa Maria Town Center.
The six-week digital business education course was originally developed by the Visalia Chamber, but is now licensed to Santa Maria, which hosts the program locally.
The program focuses on students who can communicate at the sixth grade level and covers six categories;
- Business basics
- Cost models
- Safety and food preparation
- Marketing and customer service
- Financial management
- Future plan
All sessions and office hours will be held at Zoom and feature a local business leader as a guest speaker. For more information and to register for the event, go to the Santamaria Valley Chamber of Commerce website at http://santamaria.com/junior-ceo.
The course costs $25 per student, and registration is required. Courses start on September 26, so register as soon as possible to reserve your place.
