Let’s begin with our top story. Actor Ranbir Kapoor attended the Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah on Wednesday, 7th December, and fans cheered for the Brahmastra star as he walked in for one of the final ‘In Conversation’ sessions at the festival. During the session, Ranbir revealed that his long-term plan is to direct films and act in them too. He also addressed the failure of his recent film Shamshera. He shared that the “biggest mistake” he made in the film was sticking on a beard. Ranbir’s upcoming films include Luv Ranjan’s romantic comedy, alongside Shraddha Kapoor. Ranbir stated that the Luv Ranjan film will be one of his last romantic comedies.
“Moving on, Jackie Shroff has sustained a high level of stardom over decades. He made his debut in 1983, with the Subhash Ghai film “”Hero””.
Beloved by his fans as ‘Jaggu Dada’, the actor also spoke about how he came to be known as ‘Jackie’, after being born as Jaikishan Shroff. Jackie has often spoken about his youth in a Mumbai chawl and has inspired many with his rags-to-riches tale. His classmate from school, who came from Hong Kong felt that Jaikishan was a long name, and began calling him “”Jai-ki””, and from there, it evolved into “”Jackie.”” The actor was last seen in the film Phone Bhoot, and will next be seen in the film Life’s Good.”
“After joining Ranveer in a cameo in 83 last year, Deepika Padukone will now be part of Cirkus, through the song “Current Laga Re”. On Thursday, 8th December, the team dropped the music video of the song that showcases the chemistry between Bollywood’s star couple.
Deepika looked gorgeous in her pink-green South-Indian style outfit, which she completed with gajras and a choker necklace. Ranveer, on the other hand, was seen dressed in an-all black attire and also sporting a moustache. Not just their chemistry, but the actors also impressed fans with their dance moves. Also starring Varun Sharma, Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, and Sanjay Mishra among others, Cirkus will release on December 23.”
“Zwigato, directed by Nandita Das and starring Kapil Sharma, after being part of international cinema events such as the Toronto International Film Festival and the Busan International Film Festival, is finally set to premiere in India at the 27th International Film Festival of Kerala on December 10. The film will open the Kaleidoscope section of the festival, and it will be screened again at the fest on 13th December.
Zwigato follows the life of a former floor manager at a factory, who loses his job during the pandemic. To make ends meet, he becomes a food delivery guy, who struggles with the world of ratings and algorithms. The film is set in Odisha and tells the story of everyday people and their struggles.”
Bollywood star Akshay Kumar on Thursday, 8th December, took to social media to give fans a rare tour of his house. In the video, we get a glimpse of his beautifully kept garden, a royal living room and a walk-in closet. He also revealed that it was his first interview at his home, as he’d never used it for promotional work. On the work front, Akshay Kumar will be next seen in “Selfiee” along with Emraan Hashmi and Diana Penty and Aanand L Rai’s next “Gorkha”.
Meanwhile, Filmmaker Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari took to Instagram and dropped a heartfelt post ahead of the release of her upcoming web series Faadu, starring Saiyami Kher and Pavail Gulati in the lead roles. Ashwiny said that making Faadu was like a “long bridge for her” and added that she was living and breathing every character for almost 3 years. Ashwiny shared a poster featuring the two lead actors. She also thanked the entire crew and cast and said that they sailed through the unexpectedness because of her partners in every department. Written by Saumya Joshi, the web series will release on SonyLIV today.
Bollywood actor Kartik Aaryan, who was recently seen in a different avatar in his film Freddy, has said that playing Dr Freddy Ginwala was very tough and added that he liked to experiment with his characters. The actor also spoke about the audience’s response to Freddy and said that he was extremely overjoyed. He said that it felt ‘truly amazing” to know that people are accepting him in this shade too as he had tried his hand at this genre “for the first time.” Kartik has interesting projects in the pipeline including Shehzada, Aashiqui 3, Satya Prem Ki Katha, and Kabir Khan’s untitled next.
Lastly, the debate around streaming platforms taking over theatres post-pandemic has been going on for some time. While many actors and filmmakers have spoken about it, recently Bollywood superstar, Shah Rukh Khan joined the bandwagon of stars who believed that the dominance of OTT platforms was a temporary phase. In a recent interview, he agreed that due to the pandemic, the watching habits of people had changed and that he had earlier too, been a part of phases where people thought “now nobody would watch movies” in theatres. However, that never happened and people always returned to cinema halls. Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up for the release of three films in 2023 – Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki.
