PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A big party will be happening here in Pittsburgh on Saturday night. It’s New Year’s Eve and the New Year’s Eve celebration here in the steel city looks set to be spectacular.
On Saturday night, this entire area will be full of people ringing in the new year at Highmark’s New Year’s Eve party. Goodbye 2022 and hello 2023!
Sarah Aziz, Director of Festival Management at the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and one of the lead organizers of First Night, says she’s looking forward to ringing in the new year.
“Super excited! You know, 2022, we were getting back to normal… we’re ready to move into 2023 when things are going to be even bigger and better, more gatherings and more events.”
This year’s event is free and open to everyone, and there’s a little something for everyone, from magic shows to food trucks to live music to an ice maze. There will be face painting, live graffiti, a parade, a ball drop and fireworks
And since this is Pittsburgh and we love our fireworks, there will be fireworks at 6pm for those who want to pack in the kids early and fireworks at midnight for those who want to stay out late.
Headlining this year’s music show is local R&B and Soul artist INEZ, who remembers coming downtown on New Year’s Eve as a kid and says she can’t believe she’s performing here now as an adult.
“I wanted to be a producer, so I didn’t see myself on stage that much, to see this whole thing come full circle like this, I couldn’t imagine… I couldn’t have planned this,” INEZ. said.
“I feel incredible. I feel incredible. I feel honored. I’m just happy. I’m so excited to perform. It’s a dream come true. I feel like it’s the culmination of coming here… so I’m excited to be for to do it.”
Ring in the new year with Team PTL at 10pm on Saturday night from Night One!
