What is coming? Elon Musk and Jeff Bezos are about to lock horns again. Last month, the US Federal Communications Commission approved the final aspects of Project Kuiper, Amazon’s effort to deliver high-speed internet from space. In May, the company will test the satellites in an effort to catch up to SpaceX’s own Starlink business and break into a more lucrative market.

These new tools allow you to see for yourself how biased AI image models are
The news: A new set of interactive online tools lets people test for bias in three popular AI imaging models: DALL-E 2 and the two latest versions of Stable Diffusion. The tools, developed by AI startup Hugging Face and researchers at the University of Leipzig, are detailed in a non-peer-reviewed paper.
Why is it important? AI image-generating models are known to develop harmful biases and stereotypes. For example, the researchers found that the DALL-E 2 produced 97% white males when asked questions such as “CEO” or “Director.” Now, people can use these tools to see the problem for themselves, not just take experts at their word.
