Indian Embassy honored Sudeep Manwatkar for his Bronze Medal Victory

Indian woodball players recently won bronze for the country after competing in the 13th Thailand Open Woodball Championship 2022, which was held in Chiang Dao Woodball Club in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from July 11 to 16, 2022, under the sponsorship of the Woodball Association of India and in accordance with the G.O.I.’s Ministry of Sports guidelines. Sudeep Manwatkar and Siddhant Singh took home the bronze medal in the men’s double stroke event, which saw Thailand win and Chinese Taipei place first runner-up. Team India placed fifth overall.

Seven nations, including the Indian Woodball Team and Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Pakistan, participated in the aforementioned event. Thailand served as the host nation.

 

The Indian Embassy in Thailand, both in Chiang Mai district and in Bangkok city, honored and felicitated the Indian Woodball Players by inviting them to the embassy and wanting to gather more information about the game and the victory of our players.

 

The bronze medal-winning Indian men’s double woodball team was felicitated by Shri Kesang Wangdi, First Secretary (Cons) at the Embassy of India, Bangkok. Indian team member Sudeep Manwatkar played in the Thailand International woodball Championship 2022 – Chiangmai.

Sudeep shared his happiness and enthusiasm with the kind of support the embassy of India in Thailand showed and promised the Consul General and The Ambassador, A Gold Medal for India next year.

Games started on July 12 after the Indian team arrived at Thailand’s Chiang Dao Woodball Club on July 11. More than 470 contestants took part in the 13th Thailand Open International Woodball Championship 2022, where they competed in a range of forms and disciplines. On the fourth day of the competition, players from India won the men’s double stroke division.

 

The players expressed their gratitude to Dr. Ashish Deshmukh, a former MLA and president of the Woodball Association of India, Mr. Pravin Manwatkar, treasurer, Mr. Kishor Badge, vice president, and Mr. Ajay Sontakke, general secretary, for their prompt assistance and encouragement in improving their play. Furthermore, the medals were dedicated to them.

 

Sudeep Manwatkar obtained his BBB-LL. B (honors) from the famous University National Law School of Mumbai University and has long been employed by the office of the Principle Secretary at Vidhan Bhavan in Mumbai. But sports have always been his primary interest and emphasis.

 

Sudeep said he is happy and satisfied to have won a bronze medal for the country, but he aims for the Gold Medal in the upcoming Woodball Championships. The Coaches & Managers were equally happy and expressed their joy by appreciating and encouraging the players to push their limits and do more to perform better and make everyone proud again.
