A guide to working in the Eindhoven tech scene

Eindhoven offers innovations from AR and VR to logistics, to which tech talent makes a big contribution.

Continuing our series exploring new tech hubs around the world, we take a look at what Eindhoven’s tech scene has to offer.

Eindhoven may not be the first place you think of when you picture Europe’s tech hubs. However, the Dutch city wants to make a name for itself as a major player in the global market. What the city lacks in size (there are about 223,000 residents according to the last census) it makes up for in big-name companies and institutions.

Philips and Eindhoven go hand-in-hand, but the city is also home to other prominent technology companies such as ASML, Carbyon and Sirius Medical. And, when big companies set up shop, jobs follow, which is why Eindhoven has become a popular choice for tech professionals from around the world in recent years.

Sure, there are plenty of exciting career opportunities, but outside of the 9-5, it’s also a really fun place to live.

The cost of living in Eindhoven is cheaper than in European cities like London, Paris, or Amsterdam. The weather usually stays at 30 degrees in summer, but you will also get the perfect winter. And there is a vibrant and welcoming community of workers from around the world based in the city.
