A local business is hosting a car show to raise funds for blood cancer research and awareness

Eau Claire, Wis. (WEAU) – A local business is hosting a car show to raise money for cancer research and awareness.

Builders FirstSource in Eau Claire hosted a fundraiser to raise $6,000 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

The money will also go to the event at Harriet Island in Minnesota.

“We’re trying to raise money for the community and light up the LLS night event on Sept. 22 at Harriet Island in the Twin Cities,” said Ryan Anger, who organized the car show Saturday afternoon.

The event was $5 for those who wanted to enter their car or watch the car show and have fun.

“If you get in a car, you’ll find a ping pong ball and that ping pong ball has a number on it and it’s actually associated with a prize that’s been awarded. So from a, six month membership to a local gym or even a hat. So it’s all about luck,” said Ndet.

Builders FirstSource has done other events to raise money for LLS, but the idea of putting on a car show is a new one.

“Someone, some came up with the idea of a car show to raise money. And we all got on board. And you know, we spread the word and it seemed like a lot of people were getting on board.”

They hope to bring back the car show next year.

“We plan to do this for years to come,” Anger said.
