BALTIMORE — 20 Baltimore-area students will start college this fall with free laptops in hand.
Tech company Siena Blue Planet donated new HP laptops, $200 in Amazon gift cards, and $300 in credit toward online tutoring from students in the Building Steps program.
Baltimore City Public Schools is a program that helps students earn college degrees in science and technology.
“Blue Planet is a company that has been partnering with us for the last two years. They come in and support us in different ways. If we’re looking for volunteer networking opportunities, they come in and do career modules to expose them. They’re a technology company and they have volunteers who talk to different departments. ” said Sheena Michal, Chief Program Officer of Building Steps.
“I’m so grateful for what I received today. It’s a great gift for college students. It really helps, it’s a good laptop, it’s worth the money and it’s useful,” said one person.
These students come from eight different schools in Baltimore City and will soon be freshmen.
