Elon Musk seems to have an opinion about everything under the sun. While informed and grounded comments can be helpful, unsolicited and unfounded comments that are completely none of your business can be harmful and even invite a major backlash. And that’s what happened with Musk. Musk took to Twitter to share some amazing thoughts about the peace deal between Ukraine and Russia. Well, as expected the tweet didn’t go down well with many people including the President of Ukraine who felt the need to respond to the ill-conceived tweet. Read along to learn more.
What and why
Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is under international scrutiny. People around the world have condemned Russia and its president, Vladimir Putin, as nothing more than a humanitarian crisis. And then, Musk said about everything.
Ukraine-Russia peace;
– Repeat the election of the territories included under the control of the United Nations. If it is the will of the people, Russia will leave.
– Crimea has been part of Russia since 1783 (until Khrushchev’s mistake).
– Water supply to Crimea is confirmed.
– Ukraine is independent.

Elon Musk, who is stuck in a lawsuit and simultaneously working on new products, including human beings, has a lot of time on his hands to think before tweeting.
Musk took to Twitter to ask people’s opinions about new elections in Ukraine’s annexed territories and full recognition of Crimea as part of Russia. The post did not go down well with critics or Ukrainian authorities, who were quick to respond.
Elon, you are a great guy and thanks for Starlink but it would be great if you could voice the things you know. We will not vote against apartheid and Nelson Mandela.

Elon’s public opinion drew a response from not only Ukrainian officials, but Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelenskyy’s own Twitter poll is Elon asking users which they like more, pro-Ukraine or pro-Russia. Many people voted for Ukraine and some even condemned Elon for offering a peace deal that seemed favorable to Russia.
which one @elonmusk Do you like it more?
– Volodymyr Zelensky (@ZelenskyyUa) October 3, 2022
While the President chose a response that seemed good on the surface, Ambassador Andrzej Melnyk chose to take the hasty route and gave a very “diplomatic response.” Well, some might say it’s a mistake to use language far less polite than the ambassador. While some others may say Tesla asked the CEO.
This is my diplomatic response to you. @elonmusk

Let’s flip through a couple of responses on Twitter and see what Twitterati thought about Musk’s poll. Most of them were clearly not impressed.
Well, let’s just say this was the universe’s way of teaching Mook some very important history lessons.
Elon Musk’s toast to his proposed peace between Ukraine and Russia and his history lessons are simply glorious. pic.twitter.com/r3UFdSWKaC

So please @elonmuskDon’t act like you know whose Crimea it is.
The peninsula belongs to the Crimean Tatars, who have lived in contempt of Russia for centuries, and all Russia has done is take their land and kill them. Crimea is Ukraine.

Be a liar
For those who might be a little confused: Elon Musk did not generously donate Starlink satellite internet to Ukraine. The Biden administration had to pay for it.

Let it burn!
Elon Musk is weighing in on Russia/Ukraine as he is an expert on failed divestment attempts.

It’s about time people like Musk realized that political correctness is a thing.
I am from Kyiv, Ukraine. My friends have been killed, injured, displaced or nothing because of Russia. What Elon Musk says on Twitter is sad and hurtful to all Ukrainians. I am saddened to see those in authority and followers decide to use it like that.

You know what makes me so happy? I saw in the comments a great wave of support for Ukraine @elonmusk.
The support I see from you every day.
Thank you, true friends of Ukraine! Ukraine will win!
