It’s not every day that a stranger can link arms with Heidi Klum, cozy up to Anna Wintour, or look into Kendall Jenner’s eyes. But that’s what visitors to Oculus found themselves doing earlier this month, after they happened upon fashionable facsimiles of those celebrities as well as Brazilian model Alessandra Ambrosio.

In partnership with Westfield World Trade Center, Madame Tussauds wax figures were unveiled just before the start of New York Fashion Week. Wintour rocked her 2019 Met Gala ensemble; Jenner’s look was inspired by her 2019 ESPYS look; and Klum’s outfit came from the 15th season finale of Project Runway. Arms outstretched and welcoming, Ambrosia beckoned passers-by in a bright red asymmetric dress.
But it wasn’t the fashion that caught the attention of Oculus followers, but the chance for some face and a photo, with these high-profile fashionistas. The closest, at least, that they will ever come.
