Fayetteville receives top honors in public relations awards

The City of Fayetteville received top honors at the Public Relations Association of North Carolina’s Annual Initiative Awards.

The city announced in a press release that it received a silver award for the 2021 Veterans Day Virtual Program in the Events and Observance category. The city received an honorable mention for the Can Do Carolina City Rebrand Reputation/Brand Management category, according to the release.

The awards ceremony was held on August 18 at the Raleigh City Club.

It was the first PRSA award for work by the city’s marketing and communications team, the statement said.

“The team works hard to produce high-quality programming and coordinate marketing and communications efforts to meet the needs of Fayetteville residents,” Fayetteville Chief of Staff Jody Phelps said in the release. “This recognition means I could not be prouder of this talented group of professionals as they are creating some of the best work in our country, especially for broadcast programming and branding.”

The deadline for nominations for the ‘Local Hero’ award is approaching.

The deadline to nominate someone for the Greater Fayetteville Chamber’s “Local Hero” award, presented as part of this year’s Public Safety and Valor Awards, is fast approaching. The deadline for nominations is September 5.

The council presents the Public Safety and Valor Awards, which recognize public safety officials in three categories, including police, fire and emergency medical technicians. they are:

• Award of Valor; The highest award for valor and bravery. Issued when a public safety official knowingly puts himself at risk of death or serious bodily injury while performing an official act.
• Life Saving Award; This is given in recognition of official actions taken in situations where an individual’s life is in medical or physical danger.
• Honorary Award; This is understood Outstanding public safety work that demonstrates initiative, ingenuity and/or diligence in the performance of duties.

The “Local Hero” award is new this year and is based on public nominations. The deadline for nominations is September 5. The selection committee will review the nominations and select the awardees at the event.

This year’s event is scheduled for October 18 from 7:30 am to 9:30 am at Manna Church Cliffdale Campus.

Cape Fear Valley Langston will receive the Healthy Communities Award

Brian Langston, Cape Fear Valley Health’s Corporate Director of Patient Logistics – Critical Care Transport, was recently awarded the 2022 Healthy Communities Award.

The hospital said in a statement that he was one of 11 people honored for their work with the Regional Patient Movement Coordination Team during a major Covid-19 operation.

“It has been my privilege to represent Cape Fear Valley’s commitment to our community and state,” Langston said in the release. “I am honored to be recognized by the North Carolina Healthcare Association for that effort. Our success as SPMCT would not be possible without the dedication of our own referral center and patient triage team members at our command center and across the state every day.
