White Sulfur Springs, W.Va. – U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito (RW.Va.) participated in a series of events with business and community leaders today at the West Virginia Chamber of Commerce Annual Meeting and Business Summit.
First, Senator Capito addressed the General Business Summit, providing an update on the current state of the US Senate as well as ongoing work to promote economic development in West Virginia.
“The future of West Virginia depends on our ability to foster a pro-business and pro-growth environment in our communities.” Senator Capito said.. The Chamber’s theme of ‘Leaders Action’ is truly fitting as its members have taken more than one step to help expand economic development and improve the business climate in West Virginia. While West Virginia has achieved some major economic wins, we must ensure that we continue to focus on maintaining this positive economic growth. I look forward to continuing our efforts to make West Virginia the best place to live, work and raise a family.

Senator Capito participated in a working luncheon hosted by Marshall University President Brad Smith that focused on rural health development and the linkages between community health and economic prosperity.
“From our largest hospitals to our smallest health clinics, our medical facilities and professionals play a key role in providing essential medical services to the people of our region. This is especially true for our facilities in rural areas, which are often the only resource for residents of our small communities.” Senator Capito said.. “Reliable health resources must be accessible for our rural communities to succeed. I’m glad President Smith is taking the initiative again and encouraging conversations like this so we can work to develop new solutions that will help move us in the right direction.”
