Central Mountain Entrepreneurs hosts the 2023 Ascent Launch Party for Thursday, January 19 at Salida Stemplant. A welcome reception will begin at 4:00 pm and the launch party will begin at 5:00 pm The event will feature Anneliese Lovely, Co-Founder and CEO of Islatic Skis; Introduce the 2023 cohort of business attendees and have three keynote speakers share their business start-up stories.

A pre-event announcement offers a few highlights of the three featured speakers. One of the key themes of this year’s Ashes launch party is the power of entrepreneurs to help shape their communities.

Mike Harvey – Few local founders exemplify this concept better than the founder of Badfish SUP.

Mike moved to the Upper Arkansas River Valley at the age of 18 in 1993, six days after graduating from high school.
School. He came to Ark Valley not only to guide but also fell in love with white water kayaking in particular. In the process, he fell for the Ark Valley.

Mike founded Badfish SUP, a Salida-based company that manufactures and sells industry-leading paddleboards, pioneering Badfish SUP in one of the fastest-growing segments of river sports in recent years. To accomplish this, Mike and his team have supported and inspired – creating the new outdoor river surfing trend and being a pioneering whitewater park designer since 2000.

Rob and Sarah Gartman –A husband and wife team of local entrepreneurs and business leaders built Sweetie’s Sandwich Shop and The Biker & The Baker from the ground up. As special startup story guests at the Ascent Launch Party on January 19, they’ll share insights from their “Sweet” journey, their experiences as part of the 2022 Transition Team, and tell the audience about their new venture, “Hey Sweet!”

Carlin Walsh – Founder of Ascent Beer Company shares his startup story at our Ascent Launch Event. Moving from beer to broadband, he was recently named CEO of Colorado Central Telecom and has been a member of the Chaffee County EDC Executive Board since 2013.
