Downtown Salisbury is accepting grants for small businesses

SALISBURY, NC (WBTV) – Downtown Salisbury, Inc. (DSI) will receive a $25,000 Hometown Revitalization Grant from the Duke Energy Foundation to support downtown businesses.

“We are honored and grateful to be one of 20 organizations named Duke Energy Grant recipients in this latest grant round,” said Sada Troutman, Director of Downtown Salisbury Inc. The past few years have been incredibly trying for small businesses across the country, and Downtown Salisbury is no exception. This $25,000 will allow DSI to create a grant program that provides financial assistance to small businesses to bring vision and business expansion to life. This will continue to make Downtown Salisbury a community asset and destination for tourists and residents alike.

The grant’s Small Business Support Awards focus on businesses with fewer than 50 employees, and small businesses must have a storefront in a designated Downtown Salisbury Municipal Services District (MSD). Business owners located within the boundaries of the Downtown Salisbury MSD are invited to apply for grants of between $500 and $2,500.

Relevant small business expenses may include:

  • Improved service or business opportunities
  • Expanded outdoor furniture
  • Shop front decoration
  • Tools or programs to support the workforce needs of the business

Grant applications are available Friday, Oct. 28 at 9 a.m. through the Downtown Salisbury Inc. website or can be picked up at the DSI office at 217 S. Main Street. Completed grant applications are due at Downtown Salisbury, Inc. by Wednesday, December 21st.
