The flames have caused millions of pounds worth of damage and the village is a black box, but one of the most famous fashion designers thought it would be the perfect time to light a fire at her wild birthday party.
High-pressure firefighters, who would normally save lives, were called to the 47th birthday party of royal favorite Alice Temperley, whose ‘boho chic’ dresses have been worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, I can reveal for the movie star. Keira Knightley.
“She should be charged for wasting emergency services time and money,” says a local who lives near Temperley’s West Country estate.
It is understood the fire alarm at her property was set off by a fire she decided to light as part of the celebrations, which were attended by fashion figures including model Jade Parfitt, 44.

Parfitt was later photographed wearing one of the designer’s leopard-print dresses, holding one of the hoses firefighters used to put out the blaze. “Health and safety went crazy,” the model joked. ‘Alice Temperley knows how to throw a party and make the best firefighting dresses. Firefighters will hire me because I have everything under control.’
A spokesman for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue service confirmed: “We were called to a fire alarm at a property near Ilminster at 12.50pm on Sunday 24 July and a fire crew attended.”
Temperley declined to comment.
But it seems she has few regrets, judging by the photo she shared of her wagging her finger at the camera as she posed with friends.

Prince Charles has reached the pinnacle of patronage. I hear he has become the patron of the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team covering his favorite hill – taking over the role from his late father. Such is Charles’ love of Lochnagar that he immortalized it in his 1980 illustrated children’s book The Old Man Of Lochnagar. It was originally written by the Prince to entertain his brothers, Andrew and Edward, as children. The book was later made into a short animated film by the BBC, with Robbie Coltrane providing the voice of the hermit and Charles narrating.
