The flames have caused millions of pounds worth of damage and the village is a black box, but one of the most famous fashion designers thought it would be the perfect time to light a fire at her wild birthday party.
High-pressure firefighters, who would normally save lives, were called to the 47th birthday party of royal favorite Alice Temperley, whose ‘boho chic’ dresses have been worn by the Duchess of Cambridge, I can reveal for the movie star. Keira Knightley.
“She should be charged for wasting emergency services time and money,” says a local who lives near Temperley’s West Country estate.
It is understood the fire alarm at her property was set off by a fire she decided to light as part of the celebrations, which were attended by fashion figures including model Jade Parfitt, 44.

Parfitt was later photographed wearing one of the designer’s leopard-print dresses, holding one of the hoses firefighters used to put out the blaze. “Health and safety went crazy,” the model joked. ‘Alice Temperley knows how to throw a party and make the best firefighting dresses. Firefighters will hire me because I have everything under control.’
A spokesman for Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue service confirmed: “We were called to a fire alarm at a property near Ilminster at 12.50pm on Sunday 24 July and a fire crew attended.”
Temperley declined to comment.
But it seems she has few regrets, judging by the photo she shared of her wagging her finger at the camera as she posed with friends.
Take a look! Gino snubs tea with the Queen
Take off your head! Italian-born TV chef Gino D’Acampo claims he turned down an invitation to tea from the Queen because he didn’t like the food and drink on offer.
“I’m not really into tea or cucumber sandwiches,” says D’Acampo, 46, who hosts programs including Let’s Do Lunch, Gino’s Italian Escape and the gameshow Family Fortunes.
“I was invited to the Palace for tea just before Covid, but a cucumber sandwich is my worst nightmare. I don’t even like tea, so I called my agent and said, “I’d like to meet him, but I don’t like tea and cucumber sandwiches, and I can’t do either of those things. I will also have to wear a tie and the last time I did that was when I got married. I can’t do this. But if I can have a plate of pasta and a cup of coffee, I’m in.”
Is this the same tea-and-cucumber-hating Gino who recently introduced afternoon teas at his eponymous restaurant in Newcastle upon Tyne?
Oscar-winning British composer Anne Dudley is modest when it comes to showing off her honors. TV’s Poldark soundtrack creator Dudley, who won the Oscar for best original score for The Full Monty in 1998, says of her Oscar statuette: “It’s in a glass cabinet with my husband’s laurel trophy from local show and my daughter’s. school sports cup. We’re very egalitarian in my house.’
Oops Jezza, and on that bomb…
Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend Lisa Hogan showed off her cool as she jumped off a yacht during their holiday in France, but it’s the motorbike star who I think got into trouble.
Jeremy Clarkson is pictured with new girlfriend Lisa Hogan
Jeremy Clarkson’s girlfriend, Lisa Hogan, showed incredible elegance as she jumped backwards from a yacht during their holiday in France.
Expressing his appreciation for her skills, the Grand Tour host, 62, said: “Just amazing. I mean, she was born in the 1960s.”
Until now, the former actress and model’s age has generally been said to be in her late 40s – so she would have been born in the 1970s.
Having checked the official details provided to Companies House, I can confirm that Hogan was born in May 1969. So Clarkson has carelessly told the world her real age is 53.
What the hell? Don’t push him off the boat, Lisa!
Kirsty in the mood at his daughter’s party

A fierce figure when grilling debauched politicians, Newsnight presenter Kirsty Wark lets her hair down every now and then, as this photo proves.
The 67-year-old Scot is throwing back cocktails with her journalist daughter Caitlin Clements, 32, who is to marry civil servant Callum Galloway, 31.
“My daughter’s hen party, at our house,” says Wark, who is married to TV producer Alan Clements.

Prince Charles has reached the pinnacle of patronage. I hear he has become the patron of the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team covering his favorite hill – taking over the role from his late father. Such is Charles’ love of Lochnagar that he immortalized it in his 1980 illustrated children’s book The Old Man Of Lochnagar. It was originally written by the Prince to entertain his brothers, Andrew and Edward, as children. The book was later made into a short animated film by the BBC, with Robbie Coltrane providing the voice of the hermit and Charles narrating.
