“Let’s begin with our top story. Calling Shehzada a “family mass entertainer”, actor Kartik Aaryan on Thursday, 12th January said he hopes the upcoming film crosses the Rs 200 crore milestone at the box office.
Aaryan, whose Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 was among the handful of hit Bollywood films in 2022, said the success of Shehzada will also be beneficial for the industry. “I’m grateful for people watching my films in theatres and I hope the same thing happens with this film and with my future films, too””. The actor, who has turned producer with Shehzada, was speaking to reporters at the trailer launch of the film in Mumbai. The Rohit Dhawan directorial reunites Kartik Aaryan with his Luka Chuppi co-star Kriti Sanon.”
Moving on. The trailer of one of the most-anticipated Bollywood films, Pathaan released on January 10. Since then, there has been a lot of buzz around it on social media. Helmed by Siddharth Anand, the action-thriller stars Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham’s character is seen in a negative role. Overwhelmed with all the love the trailer has received, John took to social media to express his gratitude. John Abraham, who has earlier starred in another Yash Raj Films superhit, Dhoom, added, “Aditya Chopra has always given me some of my best roles & I can’t wait for you to see what Siddharth Anand has done with me and the film!” Pathaan will hit theatres on January 25.
Bollywood actor Arjun Kapoor, who will next be seen in the movie Kuttey, has opened up about feeling ‘suffocated’ in the film industry. Arjun said that sometimes an actor has to pretend to fit in this civilized society. In an interview with Siddharth Kannan, Arjun said, “It’s not always easy to put yourself out there in the purest way. You cannot always speak the truth. If I start speaking everything on my mind, then they will fire me from the job.” Kuttey is helmed by Vishal Bharadwaj’s son Aasman Bharadwaj. The film is all set to hit theatres on January 13. It also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma, Tabu and Kumud Mishra.
Meanwhile, congratulations have been pouring in for RRR’s win at the Golden Globes, but, there were many questions raised on JR NTR’s accent, as he spoke to reporters on the Red Carpet. However, Bollywood actor Gulshan Devaiah stepped in to defend the actor and said that it wasn’t as ‘bad’ as people were making it out to be. Gulshan tweeted, “I think NTR’s accent is firstly not as bad as people are making it out to be, secondly it’s a calculated PR strategy. Take it easy..let him try to spread his wings & fly. It’s good for Indian cinema if he breaks through the Hollywood global market. We all stand to gain from it.” Gulshan Devaiah was last seen in Blurr.
Actor Rakul Preet Singh will be seen playing the role of the quality control head at a condom factory in Chhatriwali. The film’s trailer showed Rakul attempting to educate people about safe sex and the importance of contraceptives. Talking about the premise of the film in a recent interview, Rakul said, “Chhatriwali is not just about safe sex but also about the health issues that women face due to the lack of it. The film also talks about the importance of education.” Chhatriwali also stars Sumeet Vyas and Satish Kaushik in pivotal roles. The film will stream on ZEE5 from January 20, 2023.
Meanwhile, Actor Kiara Advani’s latest TVC in bridalwear fuelled the speculations around her wedding with her Shershaah co-star Sidharth Malhotra. Fans of the couple assumed that Kiara and Sidharth will tie the knot in February. But Sidharth, who is looking forward to the release of his film Mission Majnu, recently dismissed the rumours about his wedding in a recent interview, as part of promotions for the film. He said even he hasn’t been invited to his own wedding and he has no clue about his wedding dates. He continued to say that he would prefer people talking about his movies over his personal life. Mission Majnu, which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, releases on January 20th.
“Karan Johar was all praises for his friend Riteish Deshmukh on the success of his debut directorial Ved. Taking to Instagram, Karan dropped the poster of Ved and penned down a long note that read, “We’ve been friends for 20 years, a friendship that had nothing to do with the profession we are both in (which is rare). He was always the good guy everyone loved!””
Karan then added, “Riteish is a solid amazing actor who at times was perhaps mildly underrated, he has always stood strong, tall and proud for Marathi Cinema, and today my dearest friend has proved to be not only an outstanding filmmaker and actor but also the maker of a historic blockbuster of Marathi cinema.”””
Lastly, Actor Shreyas Talpade has worked with some of the biggest stars in his career and has accumulated several stories about them. In a recent interview, Shreyas recalled working with stars Amitabh Bachchan and Naseeruddin Shah. Shreyas recalled witnessing Amitabh Bachchan’s massive stardom immediately after Kaun Banega Crorepati reawakened his popularity, on the sets of their 2002 film Aankhen. Shreyas then got the opportunity to star in Nagesh Kukunoor’s hit sports drama “Iqbal”, alongside Naseeruddin. Shreyas was warned by the director about Naseeruddin Shah’s ‘temperamental’ nature but soon found out it wasn’t true.
