Actor Ajay Devgn, who had a slow year at the box office with Runway 34 and Thank God’s underperformance, is back in the number game with Drishyam 2 ringing the registers. Talking about Runway 34, which was directed and produced by him, he said in an interview, that the success of the film on OTT made him feel partly vindicated. However, Ajay felt only stars are not to be blamed for Bollywood’s poor show this year. He said a film needs to be seen in ‘totality’ with its script, the stars, ensemble cast, crew and technicians coming together, as well.
“Moving on, On Tuesday,13th December, Netflix released the first poster of Mission Majnu, which will star Sidharth Malhotra in the lead role. Inspired by true events, the film will tell the story of one of India’s most important missions and take audiences on an emotional ride. The Shantanu Bagchi directorial will also star Rashmika Mandanna in the lead and is set to release on the streaming platform on January 20.
In the poster, Sidharth is seen dressed in a brown pathani suit, with a jacket, holding a gun in his hand. This is Sidharth Malhotra’s second direct-to-digital release after the acclaimed Shershaah. He also has Yodha in the pipeline along with Rohit Shetty’s much-awaited web series Indian Police Force.”
Actors Jacqueline Fernandez and Nora Fatehi have been questioned in a money laundering case filed by Enforcement Directorate against alleged conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar. Nora has now filed a defamation case against Jacqueline, claiming the latter “made defamatory imputations” against her for “malicious reasons” with an intent to “destroy her career to further her interests”. Jacqueline’s lawyer Prashant Patil, however, held that the actor has never spoken ill about Nora on any public or private platform and avoided talking about the Enforcement Directorate proceedings. In an interview recently, Prashant further said that they had not received any defamation suit copy from Nora and if they do, they will respond to it legally.
Amitabh Bachchan, who was recently seen in Sooraj Barjatya’s film Uunchai, has seen many struggles in his life and the veteran actor has spoken about many of these phases in public. It is well known that Amitabh started his business venture Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Limited in the ’90s but it eventually went bankrupt and left him in a lot of debt. At that time, Bachchan was offered monetary help by the late Dhirubhai Ambani but he refused the offer. He remembered how Dhirubhai Ambani asked his younger son Anil to offer monetary assistance to him. Amitabh said that the amount would have solved all his problems. However, he felt that he wouldn’t have been able to accept the businessman’s generosity.
Meanwhile, Rishab Shetty’s Kannada film Kantara has found takers across the country this year. While many celebrities have already praised the film, Kartik Aaryan recently expressed his desire to be part of a film like Kantara. In an interview, the actor admitted that he was a complete ‘desi’ and would love to do such films as well. Kartik Aaryan has had a successful year as his horror comedy Bhool Bhulaiyya 2 did good business at the box office and he has received praise for his performance in the recent thriller Freddy. He also has Shehzaada, Aashiqui 3, Satya Prem Ki Katha and Kabir Khan’s untitled next in the pipeline.
Actor Akshay Kumar shared a glimpse of his song for his upcoming film Selfiee. In the photo, Akshay wears a multi-coloured fur coat, and black jeans and is seen sitting on a red car. The drama-comedy, directed by Raj Mehta, is a remake of the 2019 Malayalam-language comedy-drama Driving Licence. Apart from Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Emraan Hashmi. The original Malayalam film Driving Licence was directed by Lal Jr from a script by Sachy. It revolved around a superstar (Prithviraj Sukumaran) famous for his driving skills but loses his licence. However, the issue spins out of control after he locks horns with a motor inspector (Suraj Venjaramoodu), who happens to be a fan of the actor.
Aashiqui actor Anu Aggarwal became an overnight sensation after her film became the love story of the 90s. However, before her hit film, Anu was a popular model who had worked in Paris. In a recent interview, Anu recalled that when she started working in India, she was proud of her skin tone and never felt inferior in any way to any fair-skinned person. But, when someone tried to brighten her skin tone during a shoot, Anu walked off the set. She recalled that apart from that instance, she was never discriminated against for film roles. Anu Aggarwal recently appeared on Indian Idol during an episode celebrating Aashiqui’s music with the film’s cast.
Lastly, all the details around Ranbir Kapoor and Shraddha Kapoor’s Luv Ranjan film have been kept under wraps. But recently, Shraddha announced that the film’s team will announce its title this week. The film marks the first collaboration between Ranbir Kapoor and Luv Ranjan, who is popular for directing films like Pyar Ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety. Ranbir and Shraddha had shot for a portion of the film in Spain. During the shoot, some of their pictures were leaked from the set and earlier this year, the film’s set in Mumbai was gutted by fire. The film is expected to hit the theatres around the Holi festival next year.
