“Let’s begin with our top story. The nominations for the 23rd edition of the IIFA (International Indian Film Academy Awards) are out. And as expected, Brahmastra, Gangubai Kathiawadi and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 dominate the nominations list. Alia Bhatt’s performances get her two nominations for Best Performance in a Leading Role (Female) for both Darlings and Gangubai Kathiawadi.
The three-day event is set to begin on February 9 in Yas Island, Abu Dhabi.”
“Moving on. Kangana Ranaut, who will soon be making her solo directorial debut with the period drama Emergency, recently took to Instagram to share anecdotes from her childhood.
Kangana wrote that many people “whine about their childhood and blame their parents/parenting for most of their failures.” The Dhaakad actor said she felt very differently about it. The note was her way to thank her parents, and parents everywhere who do “selfless acts to dedicate one’s time, emotions, energies and earnings to their children.”
The Queen actor mentioned that parents today pamper their children from the moment they’re born, but her parents were not the same way. She wrote that if “they misbehaved, her parents gave them a tight slap and was disciplined”””
Salman Khan turned 57 on Tuesday, 27th December, and he made a brief appearance on the balcony of his house and greeted the sea of fans gathered below his apartment. Salman’s sister Arpita Khan hosted a birthday bash the previous night, which was attended by Shah Rukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan, Pooja Hegde, Genelia D’Souza, Riteish Deshmukh and Sonakshi Sinha, among others. Salman Khan recently wrapped filming Farhad Samji’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan. The film is scheduled to hit theatres on Eid 2023. Apart from Salman, the film also features Pooja Hegde, Venkatesh Daggubati, Shehnaaz Gill, Palak Tiwari, and Vijender Singh.
Meanwhile, Actors Tamannaah Bhatia, Rakul Preet Singh, Huma Qureshi, Alaya F and Bhumi Pednekar opened up about shooting intimate scenes in films, the presence of intimacy co-ordinators, and the constant barrage of questions they are normally subjected to. Tamannaah said that male actors are far more awkward than women while shooting such scenes. Speaking at a recent roundtable interview, Huma noted that there is always a sense of nervousness and discomfort before an intimate scene is shot, to which Tamannaah answered, “It’s not about men or women. Sometimes guys are a lot shyer and they’re a lot more worried.”
Yo Yo Honey Singh, who is currently promoting his version of “Yai Re”, recently revealed that when he met Badshah as a music producer, the rapper wanted to rap only in English. Honey also revealed that Badshah’s name was Cool Equal at the time. In a chat with Siddharth Kannan, Honey revealed, “He came to me to be launched as an English rapper. It took me two years to convince him to rap in Hindi.” Honey also opened up about his current relationship with Badshah. “We met at a Diwali party 2 years ago. We drank and danced together. We are all brothers. There are no differences between us. People are always making stuff up,” he said.
Moving on. The Monday curse had a bad effect on Rohit Shetty and Ranveer Singh’s Cirkus. After earning a little over Rs 20 crore in its opening weekend, the film collected approximately Rs 2.50 crore on Monday, taking the total to about Rs 23 crore. As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, Avatar: The Way of Water has benefited from Cirkus’ poor performance. Rohit Shetty, known for his blockbusters, had high hopes of delivering a family entertainer with Cirkus. All eyes were also on Ranveer Singh, given his two last outings — 83 and Jayeshbhai Jordaar had failed at the box office. With Cirkus not finding takers even during Christmas break, trade experts believe that the collection figures will not improve in the coming days.
The Pathaan song Besharam Rang created quite a stir on social media after it was released a few days ago, and while Shah Rukh Khan indirectly addressed the social media hate at the opening ceremony of the Kolkata International Film Festival recently, politicians from across the country have been threatening to stall the film’s release in various states. In a recent chat, actor Swara Bhasker weighed in and called the controversy “foolish.” Swara insisted that ministers and elected representatives should focus their attention on matters concerning the well-being of the citizens instead of “whipping up communal frenzy.” Pathaan also stars Deepika Padukone and John Abraham. Directed by Siddharth Anand, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on January 25.
“Lastly, The Fawad Khan starrer, The Legend Of Maula Jatt, which was earlier scheduled to release in India on December 23 has been pushed to December 30. The much anticipated Pakistani film featured seasoned actors Fawad Khan, Mahira Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, and Humaima Malik.
According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, “It’ll be the last major release to hit Indian screens. It was released in Pakistan and elsewhere in the world on October 13, 2022.” The Legend Of Maula Jatt has grossed more than Rs. 200 crores worldwide, since its release.”
