Let’s begin with our top story. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is overjoyed after his latest movie Pathaan emerged as one of the biggest hits in recent years. Within five days of its release, the movie comfortably cruised past the Rs 500 crore mark at the worldwide box office. Shah Rukh said, “My last few films had not worked and people had said my movies now won’t work. In these four days, I’ve forgotten my last four years.”
Meanwhile, at the event, Deepika Padukone spoke about the film, her relationship with SRK and her experience working in an action film. The actor said that the Pathaan team’s whole intention was to bring the audience together. She added, “Shah Rukh Khan taught me that it’s important to work with people you have a good time with.” Deepika Padukone further said the success of Pathaan feels like a festival. Deepika also recalled the first time she worked with SRK and spoke about the relationship they share. She said – “It’s a great relationship we share. I respect him as an artist and human being. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap was full of praise for Shah Rukh Khan and called him an actor with ‘the strongest spine’. In a recent interview, Anurag mentioned how SRK had maintained silence despite the storms in his personal and professional life. SRK’s latest film Pathaan has crushed several box office records. Anurag called the response to Pathaan ‘euphoric’, which he found beautiful and added that this success was a statement. Talking about SRK, he said – “The man with the strongest spine, the most resilience and integrity who has kept quiet through everything. He has spoken onscreen with his work I understand what that teaches you, ‘Speak with your work and don’t talk unnecessarily’. He is who he is and you can see why.”
Moving on. The success and growth of actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar have surprised his father and veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar, who in his new book Talking Life admits he was “extremely worried” about his son. In the book, Javed said unlike his daughter Zoya Akhtar — now an acclaimed filmmaker — who he believed was “strong”, he had his concerns about Farhan, the “shy” and “quiet” one. “Talking Life,” is a conversation between Javed Akhtar and documentary filmmaker Nasreen Munni Kabir, sees him speaking about the ups and downs of his extraordinary life — from his childhood to his struggles in the 1960s as an aspiring writer trying to break into the film industry to his later years as a successful songwriter and poet.
Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty’s daughter Athiya Shetty got married to cricketer KL Rahul last week in an intimate ceremony. The actor wrote, “Despite having the adulation of the nation, Rahul remains humble. He’s well-mannered, intelligent, & extremely composed. Most importantly, like all athletes, he’s seen ups & downs – which is something that will help him long after he’s done with cricket.”
