About Reimagine, Reinvent, Recreate
This next installation is an indoor/outdoor exhibition showcasing the creativity of several local artists. Each piece in the show consists of everyday objects, natural materials or discarded treasures that have been given new life as unique and beautiful works of art.
Our feature artist and show host is the amazing Diane Relph. Diane invited many of her friends and colleagues to adopt these concepts, and they created pieces that will hang on the walls of the medical school in the fall.
Diane says about her work.
My art is finding discarded objects and using them to explore their potential; Then combining these new things into expressions of universal appreciation. He questions the validity of the society he discards, the value of always seeking something new, and the validity of the machine. It celebrates the everyday detritus that has lost its meaning and gives it a new chance to open the eyes and mind.
As a gardener and long-time gardener, much of my work reflects my passion for plants, the natural world and caring for our environment. Recycled materials (tin, copper) and natural materials (leaves, twigs, and natural fibers) are common in my materials. I love photography and manipulation of digital images to find subtle things that show a different side of nature. I have also had a long love affair with rust over the years, and explore the potential of rust in creative expression in many forms: wood and rust sculpture; Glass and rust sculpture; Rust stained fabric and paper background for rust assemblies; wearable art; Metal masks: Changed art tiles; taking pictures; And digital graphic “collages”.
My two passions combine well to support my goal of using outdoor art and gardening as creative expressions of love for the environment and enhancing the quality of life. It’s about having fun creating art. Experimenting with new materials and techniques and making things up as I go along are important art forms for me.
