Florida Tech Panthers men’s soccer improved to 2-0 after shutout Wingate University.


The Panthers are set to take on Limestone on September 1st.

BREVARD COUNTY • MELBOURNE, FL – The Florida Tech Panthers soccer team defeated Wingate University 2-0 at Melbourne Panthers Stadium.

Earlier in the game, Fabio Amaral put the Bulldogs past the Panthers in the penalty box in the 15th minute.

Florida Tech had another scoring opportunity at 20′ when Hugo Katrin’s cross from Nokvi Nokvason landed in front of the net, but Wingate goalkeeper Aleska Janjic made a quick save.

Looking to tie it up, WU had a good position in the 28′ but when the ball bounced off Nicklas Wittur’s feet, Mikel Kevinsland struck for the finish to give the Panthers the lead.

WU had another chance to score after a free kick was awarded in the 36′. The ball bounced around the box until the Bulldog headed it into the net.

The Panthers controlled the momentum in the second half, outscoring the Bulldogs 5-1.

With 12 minutes left in the game, Joran Osland headed Tech past the goalkeeper to extend Tech’s lead.

Tech’s strong play on both ends outscored the Bulldogs 6-10 and they finished 4-2 in corner kicks.

Three Panthers scored two touchdowns.

Ten warnings were given with each team receiving five.

■ Florida Tech is now tied 2-2 with Wingate.

■ Amaral’s goal marked his first goal of the season against Wingate for the second straight year.

■ Amaral’s goal was the third of his career.

■ Osland scored his first career goal with the Panthers
