SMCP, the renowned French ready-to-wear group, has seen its sales rise by 21.4 per cent to €565.4 million in the first six months year-on-year (YoY).

Boosted by an impressive 24.5 percent growth during the said period, the Group’s EBIT increased by a massive 76 percent year-on-year to €45 million.

Net income increased significantly to 20.7 million euros.

According to the brand, Sandro was the biggest gainer with an increase of 21.7 percent in the first 6 months and 17.7 percent in the second quarter. Maya saw its first and second half sales grow by 18.5 percent and 15.1 percent, respectively.

The notable aspect is that the sales growth occurred despite the impact caused by the pandemic in APAC – especially in China.

However, strong performance in Europe helped SMCP combat problems in China – all thanks to local demand and the progressive recovery of tourism.

It was also good in the US, where growth was significant at 28.1 percent year-on-year and 16.3 percent compared to the first half of 2019.

Founded in 2010, the Paris-based SMCP Group has a portfolio of four brands namely, Sandro, Maje, Claudie Pierlot AND From Fursac.
