Hansal Mehta speaks up against the anti Bollywood sentiment

Hindi cinema has been dealing with several issues ever since the beginning of the pandemic and the negative perception of the industry is one them. In last few months, it’s been observed that Bollywood stars and their works face harshest of trolling and criticism for smallest of issues and that makes it difficult for actors and filmmakers to tell their stories.

In a recent media interaction, acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta stated that hate against Bollywood is “manufactured” and the industry is going to rise above it. He told The Indian Express, “It is disturbing to say the least. The kind of stuff that is written on social media, some of it even surreptitiously and otherwise, with the endorsement of some of our own colleagues. It is disturbing but I do also feel that a lot of it is also social media, very manufactured.”

Calling this a transition phase for Bollywood, Hansal Mehta said, “What is happening in this diversion, this madness, our fear is getting the better of us in being able to tell our stories the way we want to, in making the films the way we want to. It is a transitory phase; we will emerge out of it. It is a resilient industry.”
