Traveling parents no longer have to worry about where they’ll store breastmilk for their newborn–as long as they’re staying at a Kimpton Hotel, anyway.
In a press release shared with Parade, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants announced that it has launched an On-Demand Family Fridge Program this month; aimed at ensuring traveling parents have adequate storage for breastmilk by providing guests with ‘Mini Me Milk Fridges’.
The release stated that the new program was launched in response to insufficient travel accommodations for families with little ones.
According to Kimpton, the travel and hotel industry, historically, has not met the needs of breastfeeding guests by failing to provide them with proper refrigeration options for breast milk.
“Given traditional in-room hotel fridges do not reach the proper temperature for safe breast milk storage, Kimpton saw a need amongst its guests to create an offering that alleviates stress and provides an in-room solution,” the company said in the release.
Kimpton’s Mini Me Milk Fridges are available to guests at the front desk across more than 70 Kimpton properties upon request. The fridges will be delivered directly to guest rooms “as a complimentary service in an effort to alleviate the stresses that often come with family travel.”

Kimpton described the fridges as being compact “specifically qualified to maintain proper temperatures, 40 degrees Fahrenheit (according to the CDC), to store cold milk.”
Which should help to provide parents with some peace of mind and maybe some extra space in the fridge for snacks–a new standard for kid-friendly travel, if you ask us.
The company also revealed that it has upgraded accommodations for any of its employees that may be breastfeeding. Each property will be provided with a dedicated fridge available to its crew members who may need to pump throughout the workday, allowing them to store breast milk in safely and privately.
