How the technology in your life will change in 2023


Amidst the ongoing uncertainty and turmoil in the meta, it’s not hard to imagine that the future is a little bleak for the score — but rumors of a demise may be premature.

In a recent survey of 9,000 consumers, professional services firm Accenture found that 55 percent of respondents said they wanted to become “active users” of Metaverse. And of those meta-optimists, says Kevan Yalowitz, the company’s global head of software and platforms, 90 percent want to make that jump next year.

Meanwhile, other companies are busy. HTC — which makes the Vive line of VR headsets — is clearly teasing. Mobile tracking product Designed to compete with Meta’s popular Mission 2. Others, Sharp et al CanonThey are setting out to show examples and experiences that can give more people ways and reasons to delve into virtual spaces. And, after years of anticipation, this could be the year Apple finally releases a wearable screen.

None of that means you’ll be able to move yourself around the sprawling, immersive, interconnected worlds any time soon—it’s just that people aren’t going to stop talking about it anytime soon.
