It CAN be difficult to know which clothes suit your body shape best.
Luckily, a fashion pro has revealed what to wear and what to avoid if you want to look taller.
Fashion mage Bethany is 5ft 1 and revealed her tips and tricks to help her look taller.
In a YouTube video, Bethany revealed the styling tricks she swears by, starting with wearing pointy shoes.
“This is more of an optical illusion than a reality,” she reveals.
Pointed shoes help elongate your feet – even flat ones as she shows in the video.
But you should always avoid ankle strap heels if you want to look taller.
Bethany explains that ankle straps separate the leg, cutting it off instead of lengthening it.
Next, Bethany recommends a monochromatic look to add height.
She adds: “Wearing one color from head to toe will visually create a very long line.
“Not only that, but you won’t be able to tell where your legs start.”
You can also create the same illusion by wearing the same color shoes as your Bethany pants reveal.
Her third tip is to wear extra wide or straight pants, especially if they’re floor-length.
With the naked eye this will make it impossible to see how long your legs are.
The top closure can also help create length, Bethany explains that it disguises your midsection.
For the summer months, Bethany suggests trying paper shorts to create the appearance of longer legs.
They tend to be longer than other shorts and are usually high-waisted – helping to create the appearance of longer legs.
Bethan also recommends trying open skirts rather than skin-tight ones.
“Choosing a fabric that doesn’t have room for movement will make it look like your legs are thicker,” she explains.
A cropped jacket or cardigan can also make you look taller as it gives the illusion of longer legs and a shorter waist.
Finally, Bethany recommends accentuating the top half of your body by wearing a top with lots of detail.
“This is more for a pear-shaped person like me, where you might want to emphasize your shoulders with puffy sleeves,” she adds.
