Jackets Post Win at Furman Fall Classic – Women’s Tennis – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Win


Greenville, SC– Georgia Tech had four doubles wins and four singles wins in the opening day of the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. The three-day tournament at Furman University’s Mickel Tennis Center featured two rounds of doubles and first round singles matches on Friday.

To start things off in the morning, four doubles teams will represent the Yellow Jackets. A double pair of Monica Dedaj And Rosie Garcia Gross After going undefeated on the day, he will compete for the doubleheader four titles on Saturday. The Jackets swept South Carolina’s Chloe Narboni and Annie Jennings 8-0 before collecting an 8-2 decision over Mississippi State’s Sydney Hrehor and Alessia Tagliente to claim the final spot.

Tech’s No. 9-ranked doubles team of Ava Hrastar And Kylie Bilchev She won her opening match against Vanderbilt’s Celia Belle Mohr and Amy Stevens 8-6. Kate Sharabura In collaboration with Mac Jane over Eleni Luika and Sophia Hutton of Clemson, 8-4.

In singles play, Bilchev, Hrastar, Garcia Gross and Dedaj all beat Dedaj in their respective semifinals. Bilchev dropped just two games in Vanderbilt’s 6-0, 6-2 decision of Holystaff, while Hrastar defeated Ellis Mills (South Carolina) 2-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Garcia-Gross and Dedaj fought hard and won in flights seven and eight respectively. Against North Carolina’s Lindsey Zink, Garcia Gross pocketed a 7-6 (6), 6-4 victory, while Dedaj held off South Carolina’s Chloe Narboni in a super upset win. , 7-6 (4), 10-7.
