TOPEKA, Kan. (WBW) – A Los Angeles business owner returned to Kansas to share his success story with college students Monday, Sept. 26, at Washburn University.
Washburn students heard from Los Angeles skin care company Mindy Walters Skincare and Topoka native Christopher Samossegi.
He currently lives in Los Angeles, but like Szamosszegi, he was born in Topeka. Chris is a member of the Potawatomi Nation of the Prairie Band.
On Monday, he spoke to some college students about his life in Kansas and the benefits of working in different environments.
“You’re learning from people who have different experiences and backgrounds than you, which can only be beneficial,” Szamosszegi said. “You’re going to see something from a point of view that you don’t. You’ll be more successful if you know other people’s lives and backgrounds.
He also gave some advice to the students and answered questions.
“I was sharing my story and my journey to start my own company, from nothing, to where it is now, and answering questions like, ‘How did I get to this point?’ It was a question, and it gave them some insight into how to start a business.
He will speak at the Greater Topeka Partnership’s annual Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Summit on Tuesday, Sept. 26 at Prairie Band Casino.
