Let’s explore how Mahmoud Khattab built Precision MD from scratch in Elk Grove, California.
Building a business from scratch
Coming to America from the University of Damascus, Syria, Mahmoud Khattab brings with him the experience and desire to achieve exceptional service in the medical field. Khattab continues to be admitted to Case Western Hospital in Cleveland, considered one of the most prestigious medical facilities in the country.
Pursuing a role in the medical field was important to Katab, but he wanted to focus on something special, making people happy. “Plastic surgery is a form of medicine that makes people happy, usually,” Khattab said in an interview.
When discussing the huge success of Mahmoud Khatab Precision MD, it’s easy to forget how far the company has come since its inception. “I bought the equipment, I hired all the staff, I built this whole practice from scratch,” says Mahmoud Kattab.
Building the Precision MD we see today was not an overnight success. According to Khatab, his journey started at a rental office, then another office, then another. “We’re really getting to the point where we’re losing ground,” Khattab said in an interview.
It didn’t take Khatab long to see that the business had legs. The large investment at the forefront of the project helped make things clearer for all parties involved. “It was 13,000 square feet and $6 million. It was very challenging for me, and it took a long time to finish it,” Khattab said in a recent interview.
Work on the ground level
For some professionals, building a successful business means securing finances before setting out to watch the company grow. For Mahmoud Khattab, things are more hands-on. “I have to manage the business during the day – it’s a very busy practice, it takes a lot of time and effort to manage it effectively,” Khattab said in an interview with IDMensch.
If it were easy to develop a successful business in the medical field, it seems that many people would do it – a fact that is not lost on everyone. To overcome some of the hurdles in day-to-day business, Khattab likes to focus on the most important. Khattab focuses on helping their patients until they are satisfied with their services. “I focus on the patients and the staff and think about how I can improve the practice,” Khattab said.
Just because Khatab downplays his efforts at Elk Grove doesn’t mean he’s successful despite the practice. Khattab points out that the practice brings something unique, interesting and accessible to patients. Khattab commented, “This is the whole package: how to be successful in business.”
In the field of health care, plastic surgery and cosmetic services are rapidly becoming popular. California currently ranks as one of the top states in the country for new small businesses, alongside New York, Florida and Illinois.
Focusing on developing a healthcare practice in California made a lot of sense to Katab, especially when we looked at the numbers. In the year After the peak of the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, California will take the top spot as the number one economy across the country. Because of this, California is often used as a testing ground for new legislation, something Khattab is all too familiar with.
“California is known to have very strict laws and regulations for the practice of medicine,” Kattab said.
Due to California’s strict rules and regulations, Khattab must always stay on top of his game. “It’s a completely different war than working in a hospital,” Khattab said of his former position working in a hospital.
Despite his current success in establishing Precision MD, Khattab knows he needs to stay ahead of the curve to stay current with the competitive industry. For this reason, Khattab is always reading himself on the latest California laws and regulations, which is recommended to everyone in the industry.
In establishing Precision MD in Elk Grove, California, Mahmoud Khattab hopes to provide an alternative to the mainstream medical groups that have been prescribing medicine throughout the state of California. “I think it’s very important to put personal experiences into practical plastic and cosmetic surgery,” Khattab told MarketWatch.
For now, Khattab will continue to focus on the patient and staff that have made Precision MD so successful. “If you’re surrounded by the wrong people, they’re going to bring you down,” Khatab says.
