At 6:30 am (CT), the Red Raiders went out for the opening round. Wednesday’s second round is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. (CT), followed by the third and final round for Thursday morning.
This week’s loaded eight-team field includes three top-10 programs (Vanderbilt, Tech and Oklahoma) and five programs ranked in the Golf Week preseason rankings that dropped Monday.
Looking to build on the program’s third NCAA quarterfinal appearance in school history, Tech boasts one of the strongest teams in program history, bolstered by the return of Ben Hogan Award winner. Ludwig AbergSecond stage Callum Scott and Ping Honorable Mention All-America selection Bard Scogan.

Red Ride Stories:
Three new BEs were cut
• Three Red Raiders will make their debuts as transfers on Wednesday Ethan Davidson (Sacramento State) When we reach a dictator (Memphis) and Jack Wall (South Carolina) all cracked the starting lineup of the season.
• A three-time All-Big Sky selection and 2021-22 Sky Player of the Year, Davidson joins the Red Raiders after a highly successful career at Sacramento State.
• While playing for the Hornets, Davidson had 17 rounds in the top 60, including nine such rounds in 2021-22.
• Davidson finished with the second-lowest average in school history (72.8), and the second-highest-five (7) in Sac State history.
• Tech’s second transfer, Snyders, arrived in Lubbock after two seasons in Memphis.
• During his time with the Tigers, Nyders recorded four top-10s and eight top-20 finishes.
• In 2021-22, he made his biggest impact, starting all nine tournaments, including Steelwood Collegiate, shooting back-to-back rounds of 68 and 65 to finish tied for third.
• An All-AAC selection, Snyders finished in a tie for 16th at the 2021-22 AAC Championship, scoring a final-round 69 to finish under par.
• The third and final transfer, Wall, transferred to Tech after a successful career at South Carolina.
• In 2021-22, the New Jersey native had the best season of his career, playing in nine events with a 70.4 scoring average.
• A 2022 Ping All-Southeast Region selection, Wall posted three top-five finishes in 2021-22 and finished in the top-10 four separate times.
• In 2020-21, Wall played in nine of South Carolina’s 10 events, including the 2021-22 NCAA Regional in Albuquerque.
Ludwigs Last Ride:
• Aberg is a three-time All-America selection ranked No. 2 college player in the PGA Tour University Rankings and looks to build one of the most decorated careers in Red Raider golf history.
• The first Ben Hogan Award winner in program history and the 2022 individual medalist a year ago at the Big 12 Championship, Aberg averaged 70.2 points on the season.
• The Swedish-born player had a 14-under 70 round of golf at Cabo College.
• Aberg, a two-time winner a season ago, was one of the top players in the nation as all 37 rounds counted in Tech’s scoring. In accomplishing that feat, Aberg became the second player in school history to pitch at least 35 innings and have a perfect game.

The Red Raiders will return to Inverness Intercollegiate at the Inverness Club in late September when they travel to Toledo. The event starts on September 26 with the first two rounds and ends on September 27. The 16-team field includes Georgia Tech, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, Ohio State, USC and host Toledo.
