NCT’s Jeno Will Become The First K-Pop Idol To Open A New York Fashion Week Runway Show

NCT’s Jeno is making his New York Fashion Week runway debut!

On September 9 local time, New York-based fashion designer Peter Do officially announced that Jeno would open his brand’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show at New York Fashion Week.

Notably, Jeno will be the first K-pop idol to ever walk a New York Fashion Week runway show.

“It was a natural choice to have Jeno open the show,” said the designer. “Jeno embodies the Peter Do man – versatile, confident and a painter.”

As part of the brand’s collaboration with SM Entertainment, Jeno will not only walk the runway to model Peter Do’s inaugural menswear collection, but his Red Velvet labelmate Seulgi will also watch the presentation from a front row seats.

Additionally, SM Rookies Shohei and Eunseok will also appear on the show.

Peter Do said: “I have a lot of respect for these artists because there is so much time that goes into their craft that people just don’t see. Few realize the intensity of what goes on behind the scenes to achieve the final product; it’s very similar to fashion, so I identify with that process a lot. As a brand forging its way in the industry, we are proud to partner with the leading global player in K-pop to help write the future of fashion.”

Explaining the “personal emotional significance” of SM’s “presence at different stages of my life,” the designer recalled, “There’s the nostalgia of listening to Girls’ Generation songs on the bus on the way to school. When we started the brand, we were listening Red Velvet on repeat while building furniture in the studio.”

Peter Do’s Spring/Summer 2023 runway show will take place on September 13.
