Browsing through the Dauphinette collection is akin to exploring an art gallery, with each garment an artistic celebration of often overlooked materials. Some looks are subtle celebrations of nature, such as flowy yellow trousers embellished with cherry blossoms, while others take a more rugged approach to everyday resources, such as the refurbished leather dresser attached to a 1940s mail slot. The kitchen table is on display, with bags made from French pastry and an ivory dresser made from more than 400 real eggshells. Alice + Olivia stayed true to their brand DNA with a rainbow-worthy color palette from candy apple green to sky blue. This season, the brand also offered a select number of outfits for mom and me. The brand’s designer, Stacey Bendet, realized that her customers were transitioning into motherhood. Now, it is prepared to dress their daughters who will be the next generation of consumers. Bender is on the move and preparing her brand to stay that way for generations to come. There was also a contrast in the women’s pieces between jewel-toned cocktail dresses and distressed denim looks with a feminine twist like crystal fringe. Christopher Fraser

an only child
Maxwell Osborne’s AnOnlyChild was an eclectic mix of looks that ranged from streetwear to high-end. Osborne was inspired by summer nights and the desire to create a collection that could resonate with a wide age range. His opening look, a gold satin pleated gown with gold satin slacks, set a tone for opulence throughout the show. This was felt in everything from satin colored dresses to medallion print scarves.
