Plates – No. 7 Georgia Tech volleyball (6-2) dropped a 3-1 contest to No. 24 Arkansas (8-1) on Thursday night at Barnhill Arena. In Tech’s third straight game, the top outside hitter Julia Bergman He racked up 20 or more kills for the third consecutive season because of five such incidents on the year.
On the night, Bergman paced the Jackets with 22 kills and 11 digs for her third double-double. Second foreigner Bianca Bertolino She showed her versatility by finishing with nine kills and 17 digs. Other leaders of the white and gold include veteran libero Paula Pimentel With 20 digits and a junior set Bella D’Amico Both are nearing career highs with 42 assists.
How did it happen?
Arkansas stormed out of the gate, going on an early four-point run to take an 8-3 lead. The Razorbacks continued to push forward from there, following a three-point Arkansas burst to take a double-digit lead, 20-10. Georgia Tech came alive late, taking five of six points to cut the deficit to seven, but the home team closed out the first set 25-16.
The second set remained tight in the first trips, but the Yellow Jackets found a spark to build an advantage. Trailing 5-4, Tech exploded, taking 13 of the next 16 points to take a 17-8 lead for good. The Razorbacks didn’t go down without a fight, however, scoring 11 of their next 14 possessions to fall behind 20-19. Each traded a pair of shots for a 23-21 Jacket lead before the two sides went back and forth for the final four points. A service error by Arkansas ensured a 25-23 second win for the White and Gold.
The third set was another battle as Georgia Tech took its first lead at 6-5 after a three-point burst. The Yellow Jackets followed with another three-run run to take a 12-10 lead and went on to build a 19-17 advantage. After an Arkansas spurt by the Razorbacks, they killed their offense shortly after, reeling off six straight points to give the Storm a 23-19 lead of their own. Arkansas finished the game with a 25-22 victory to take a 2-1 lead.
The Razorbacks rode their momentum into the fourth set and jumped out to an 8-3 advantage. The White and Gold rallied late on a four-run 14-10 run to take five of six points to reach the same deficit at 23-19, but Arkansas finished things off with a 25-20 win to make it 3-0. He won 1 match.

The white and gold will wrap up this year’s pure, old-fashioned hatred on the road against Georgia (9-1) in conference play at Stegeman Coliseum on Saturday at 7 p.m.
