Officers searching for suspects after shots fired outside Chandler Fashion Center

CHANDLER, AZ (3TV/CBS 5) — Police are searching for suspects after a shooting outside the Chandler Fashion Center Monday night. According to Sgt. Jason McClimans with Chandler police, surveillance video shows the suspect getting up before police arrived.

Police say that currently no one is being allowed to enter the center. The Arizona Family News helicopter was on scene and saw part of the parking lot blocked off. Police cars were also near every entrance to the mall as shoppers huddled together.

Sgt. McClimans says no one was hurt and it’s not an active shooter situation. “There is no danger to the community or the mall at this time,” he said. However, it is not known what led to the shooting. The investigation is ongoing.

This is the second police situation at a Valley mall in just a few days. On Friday, Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe was evacuated after an armed man pointed a gun at another man and then ran into the mall. Officers and security at the center quickly cleared everyone but did not find the gunman. No injuries were reported and the mall reopened soon after.
