Plano Tech Campus to be sold for new electronics manufacturing complex


A global electronics company has purchased the Plano Technology Campus for a new manufacturing and office space.

Fremont, Calf. -based Delta Electronics purchased the 2-building former Alcatel USA complex off Plano Parkway near Coit Road.

Built in 1994, the 30-acre campus has two buildings and is located north of the Busch Turnpike.

Delta Electronics said it bought the Plano property “to create a space known for R&D, manufacturing and sales of smart energy-efficient products and solutions.”

“The complex, which will house more than 400,000 square feet of facilities, is expected to create hundreds of jobs, supporting additional long-term local operations across a wide range of suppliers and partners,” Delta Electronics said in announcing the acquisition. .

Officials at the US division of a Taiwanese electronics manufacturing company say they hope to partner with Texas universities and colleges to create a skilled workforce for the new facility.

“The Plano complex demonstrates Delta’s deep commitment to developing a strong supply chain,” Kelvin Huang, Delta Electronics Americas region president, said in a statement. “We expect this new station to run 100% on renewable electricity by 2030.

“Delta is a company deeply rooted in innovation, and we will be developing cutting-edge technologies in our new facility with the goal of creating more jobs for Americans in the Southwest.

Founded in 1971, Delta Electronics has been operating in the US since 1980 and has locations in California, North Carolina, Texas, Michigan, Massachusetts and Washington.

The company manufactures a line of smart energy-saving devices used in industrial automation, building automation, telecom power, data center infrastructure, EV charging, renewable energy and energy storage and display.

Delta operates sales offices, research centers and manufacturing facilities on five continents.

The Plano buildings were purchased from Austin-based real estate investors and developer Capital Business Investments, which acquired the property in 2018.

Capital Commercial has experience in buying and selling large office campuses.

In the year In 2020, Capital Commerce purchased the former American Airlines headquarters located south of DFW International Airport.

And last year, the company acquired the former JC Penney headquarters in Plano.
