Purple reigns on the fall fashion runway

If fashion is embracing one color this fall, it’s definitely purple, from a soft lavender to a rich mulberry.

The trend was sparked by Pantone’s color of the year, “North Peri,” a dramatic hue. All shades of purple reigned on the autumn runways.

Valentino created a ready-to-wear collection that reflects purple majesty: orchid jackets, sweaters, cape dresses and skirts paraded down the runway, as well as haute couture dresses with lilac jackets. Viktor & Rolf played with structure and the womb, while Zuhair Murad, who recently designed Jennifer Lopez’s wedding dress, turned to a luxurious grape for a collection of dreamy dresses.

Purple is the color of the royal family. Originally made from a rare and expensive ink, it has retained its elite status. Her bold and luxurious look has also wowed celebrities. Think David Bowie and, of course, Prince.

For those who dare to slip into a pretty purple silhouette, it’s the statement of the season.
