The Queens Chamber of Commerce and the Queens Tech Council announced that they are seeking applications from technology companies seeking office space as part of the Queens Tech Incubator. Incubator in Jamaica The $11 million Greater Nexus recently opened a 10,000-square-foot co-working space operated by the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation, with plans for additional incubators in the Rockaways, Forest Hills, Long Island. City, and water flow.
“Supporting a strong tech ecosystem requires more than just attracting world-renowned tech companies to Queens, we must do everything we can to help startups succeed,” said Tom Grech, president and CEO of the Queens Chamber of Commerce. “There is no better way to do this than with tech incubators. We are excited to launch this exciting program, and look forward to receiving applications from companies and entrepreneurs.”
The incubator launch is a key initiative of the Queens Tech Council, which launched in February 2021. Council members include Amazon, Google, Pursuit, Facebook, LIC Partnership, JetBlue Ventures, Crown Castle, Cornell Tech, New York State Business Incubator Association. and the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation.
“The tech sector in Queens is growing and growing, which highlights the importance of the efforts of the Tech Council, Tech Incubator and Greater Nexus,” said GJDC President and CEO Justin Rogers. “Greater Nexus was created to support technology startups by nurturing small businesses at every stage of their lifecycle with multiple space options and state-of-the-art features.”
Located at 89-14 Parsons Blvd. The Grand Nexus features an affordable and flexible workspace that can accommodate 75 to 100 individuals. Amenities include co-working space, meeting rooms, soundproofed phone booths and a podcast room for content creators.
The Greater Nexus offers a large modular training space to host events, educational programs, networking and mentoring opportunities. The new position is available to members of the greater Jamaican community and colleagues. The new location will provide better equipment and services to support innovation and business growth in Downtown Jamaica.
Queen’s Tech Incubator applications are reviewed and selected by members of the Queen’s Tech Council. Selected companies will receive additional office space, mentoring opportunities from Tech Council members, and resources provided by the Small Business Resource Network (SBRN).
