Raveena Nanda – Challenging Fashion Norms

Why did you get interested in fashion?

I’ve always loved fashion because, as an introvert, it allows me to express myself via styling. I’ve always had a sense of style because anytime I went shopping, I’d get fixated on a specific garment and envision myself wearing it in a variety of ways. I’ve always cherished the notion of experimenting with various silhouettes, materials, etc., and being a different person every day.

Why did you start blogging?

When I first started posting on Instagram, I was kind of doing the same thing—just chronicling my own style and #OOTDs, my travels, and the places I went and sharing them with the world online. Eventually, it evolved into fashion blogging, which offers me a platform for my love in fashion.

Have you ever faced criticism on social media ?

I have dealt with it all, from being body-shamed by her family to dealing with trolls on social media, only to emerge stronger and develop into a body-positive role model.

Plus-sized women are making their impact in a culture where the ideal of a woman is one who fits into the smallest clothes, looks a certain way, and complies with beauty standards. They are generating a wave of societal acceptance and popularizing the idea that “larger is better.” I am a developer of body-positive content, and am a part of this movement and have survived the judgments and criticism. I do not support unhealthy eating and life style but one should love their body no matter what.
