The complexity of streaming data technologies—not just streaming video, but any kind of streaming data—has created a headache for that high-speed data processing.
Accordingly, companies like Spark, Flink have emerged to solve this ksqlDB. Many of them are Java-based solutions or SQL-based analytics solutions. However, UK startup Quix claims it is a platform for developing event-driven applications. PizenIt may have applications in physics-based data modeling and anomaly detection in machine learning.
It has now raised £11m/$12.9m Series A funding, led by London-based VC MMC Ventures, with participation from existing investors Project A Ventures (out of Berlin) and Passion Capital (London).
The founders of Quix worked in Formula 1 and know real-time decision-making, where success depends on milliseconds. Indeed, one of its clients is McLaren, as well as mobility startup Voy, and the National Health Service (UK), among others.
Mike Rossam, co-founder at Quix, said in a statement: “Many companies are struggling to integrate raw technologies like Kafka into real-time data capabilities… companies can build smart data-driven applications.
Oliver Richards, partner at MMC Ventures, added: “We’ve been researching the data infrastructure space, and it’s clear that there is a growing demand for real-time streaming data across consumer and B2B use cases. “
