Players to watch

Special teams excellence is a longstanding tradition for Virginia Tech football. Holt will be responsible for restoring those rooms to their former glory. One area he won’t be too concerned about is the punter position, where the All-ACC talent Peter Moore It works. The Davidsonville, Maryland native punted 65 times for 2,892 yards, a 44.5-yard punt average and a long of 68 yards last season. Moore finished first in the ACC with 24 punts of 50 yards or more, good enough to earn a spot on the All-ACC third team.

Others in the mix
The kicking competition will continue throughout fall camp. With the rise of the NFL signee John Parker Romo (New Orleans Saints), the Hokies are in search of their next consistent point guard. Will Ross (Coastal Carolina transfer); Kyle Lowe And John Love They all find themselves in the mix. Although none of the trio played in a collegiate game, both Lowe and Love were five-star prospects coming out of high school, according to Kohl’s Kicking.

As far as snappers go, Virginia forwards Enzo Anthony. Justin Pollock and primary Christian Epling All will compete for the opportunity to contribute on special teams.

Notes

– King, Luck black And Malachi Thomas All kick returns during the 2021 season.

POSITION view
There will be some new faces connected to the Virginia Tech special teams class in 2022 Peter Moore It should provide some continuity. Tech’s roster of explosive athletes who will turn the field around when given the opportunity to line up the ball this season will never fail.
