Solving Aging} Technological solutions to slow down and reverse aging

This long-established startup is working in the fields of healthtech, ML/AI, diagnostics and biotechnology to provide innovative solutions to slow down the aging process and even manage chronic diseases and their negative functions.

An aging population is seen as a problem in the economy. India is currently a young country, but the United Nations predicts that the number of Indians over the age of 60 will double by 2050, from 138 million in 2031 to 194 million in 2031, a 41% increase in ten years. Planning for the future, Centenarians Life Sciences Pvt Ltd., known as Decode Age, is a leading startup in the Indian longevity industry working in the areas of Health Technology, ML/AI, Diagnostics, and Biotechnology to provide cutting-edge solutions. To control chronic diseases and their negative effects to slow down and even reverse the aging process.

Tech Panda We spoke to Darshit Patel, Co-Founder and Chief Scientific Officer of Decode Age, about the pain points they are solving.

We want to provide Indians with personalized solutions to combat ageing, prevent silver tsunami and create our own first blue zone.

“Age Decode is trying to solve many problems using one tool. First is aging. As a country, we don’t see aging as a problem even though it is the biggest cause of chronic diseases, which accounts for 51% of all deaths in the country,” he said.

Secondly, the most important issue in the coming decades is aging and the silver tsunami, whereby our stigmatized view of ‘old people’ in the population means that more and more people will enter the retirement stages and fewer people will enter the retirement age. Labor creates serious imbalances in the economy. So that we don’t face such a problem, it is now more important than ever to make the elderly important and to protect their health sufficiently so that they can contribute to the society economically even in their later life,” he explains.

What do they do?

The current product collection of the company falls into a special category of anti-aging products.

“Essentially, we target scientifically proven signs of aging with research-based products to slow or reverse the aging process. Our upcoming products will focus on predictive products that help predict chronic diseases and even calculate your biological age,” says Patel.

The company is working on four important pillars, health biomarker-based predictive tests, research-based prevention, precision and personalized health products, community awareness and world-class research.

Essentially, we target scientifically proven signs of aging with research-based products that are proven to reduce aspects of aging or ultimately contribute to the development of chronic disease.

The company’s key offering includes longevity supplements that combat nine signs of aging to slow the process and reverse damage.

The four formulas

  • Longvit: Slows down the aging process by targeting the signs of aging.
  • Resvit: Reverses the damage caused by aging and controls the development of chronic diseases
  • Senevit: A clinically proven formula to rid the body of ‘zombie cells’, the cause of many age-related diseases and fatigue.
  • Sportvit: Improved healthy aging, performance, endurance and cellular energy for high performance individuals

Novel compounds

  • NMN & NAD: India’s first clinically tested and patented UTHEVER compound, focused on DNA repair, increased energy output, aerobic endurance and other benefits of healthy aging.
  • Trans Resveratrol: One of the most studied compounds in the longevity industry for its positive effects on the body’s longevity cycle.
  • AKG: Alpha Keto Glutarate, proven in clinical trials to reverse biological aging
  • Fisetin: A highly potent senolytic activator for the first time in India.

Motivation and origin

Decode Era, established in Surat, operates from Bengaluru. In addition to drug design and metagenomics expert Patel, its founding members include serial tech entrepreneur, Part Amin, and triathlete and successful businessman Rakesh Somani.

Patel recalls why he decided to enter the longevity industry.

India has served the technology industry with high participation, now is the time for us to work on healthcare, biotechnology and longevity, as the longevity industry is the next moonshine of global research.

“Global research and science in this field has accelerated at an unattainable pace. We were very sad to see the situation in India. India has served the technology industry with high participation, now is the time for us to work in healthcare, biotechnology and longevity, as the longevity industry is the next moon sight of global research,” he said.

“And India, which has the largest population to study aging and deal with the silver tsunami at this time, will keep us away from the damaging effects it has had on the Japanese and US economies. A breakthrough in this area will give India a reputation that it has not enjoyed recently,” he added.

The company uses various technologies for versatile production volume.

“While our additions focus on data points and clinical research, our challenges focus on genomic, metagenomic, epigenomic technologies, leveraging the power of ML/AI in population studies,” Patel explained.

“Our product offering is completely unique and category-defining. There are no competitors of the same standing in India,” he said proudly.

Development history

Decode Edge has achieved massive organic reach outside of marketing, building a community of over 3000 people in a short period of time.

“We have established a global thought leadership and network in the longevity industry through coverage on groups like the Deep Knowledge Group,” Patel explained.

They have also connected 70+ doctors in preventive and functional medicine systems in India.

“Our educational webinars have garnered the attention of over 1000 people in less than a month. One of our founders gave the first TEDx talk on longevity in India,” he added.

Future plans

In the next six months, the company plans to build state-of-the-art microbiome and genomics analysis tests to predict healthy aging and related health behaviors based on ML/AI and plans to collect over 50,000 samples across India. Indian Microbiome Database

The most important issue in the coming decades will be aging and the silver tsunami, whereby our marginalized attitude towards the ‘elderly’ in the population will lead to more and more people entering retirement and fewer people entering the workforce, creating serious imbalances in the economy.

“Our mission is to increase health life expectancy in India by at least 10 years and our vision is to make India the leading research center for longevity. We want to provide Indians with personalized solutions to combat ageing, prevent the silver tsunami and create our own first blue zone,” said Patel.

Blue Zones are five places in the world, according to the founder of the Blue Zone, Dan Buettner, where people live longer and are healthier.

Decode Edge seeks to provide individualized and accurate food and drug recommendations through active data collection and in-depth analysis. He envisions using autobots to speed up the manufacturing and packaging of custom formulas based on experimental predictions.

Over the next two years, the team hopes their work will lead to better understanding of biological aging and age-related diseases. They want to identify new age-related biomarkers, understand how they interact with diseases, and start related drug design projects over the next three years.
