Starting point. With massive growth projected for the electric vehicle (EV) industry over the next 10 years and beyond, five industry leaders want black people to have a fair chance to contribute to initiatives and innovations in the electric vehicle arena.
Black on Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (BEVI) aims to maintain a fair, inclusive and sustainable presence of black suppliers in the global EV infrastructure market by September 2022.
Early work. The first-of-its-kind trade association brings together African American owned and operated companies engaged in the manufacture, installation, maintenance, repair, testing, resale and distribution of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE). BEVI seeks to break down barriers and create inclusive ways for people of color to become part of the industry and access quality work and resources.
Next steps. In addition to making black-owned EVSE companies more centralized and accessible to key business stakeholders, BEVI hosts forward-looking conferences, forums and fireside discussions. Topics include advocacy and policy making, contract procurement, partnerships, and community service.
