Texas Tech, New Mexico tied 1-1 in women’s soccer


Macy Schultz scored his first goal of the season to help Texas Tech to a 1-1 draw against defending Mountain West Conference champion New Mexico on Thursday night at the John Walker Soccer Complex. 6 minutes into the game, Schultz converted a pass from Macy Blackburn to keep Technic UNM scoreless and Jadin Edwards scored for UNM in the 39th minute.

Blackburn has assisted on all three of his three goals against Tech this season. Tech goalie Madison White finished with two saves.

Both teams are 1-1-1.

Tech returns to action Saturday at 9pm CDT at Cal State Fullerton.

LCU Men’s Soccer

Lubbock Christian University defeated Adams State, 6-1, and Pablo Galitero-Diez went 6-1 in the Chaparrals’ season opener.

Galittero-Diez scored three of the first four goals in the 18th, 35th and 50th minutes. Tariq Bakali, Hugo Staunton and Lucas Carli scored the rest of the goals as the Chaps took a 6-0 lead.

Aidan Ogle scored in the 73rd minute to close the gap for Adams State.
