The best red carpet looks of the weekend

The Venice International Film Festival is turning into a real feast for the eyes as celebrities hit the red carpet in every bold and extravagant look.

Actor Timothee Chalamet has just won the title of best dressed of all time by arriving at the premiere of Bones and all in a fantastic red backless Haider Ackermann suit.

Already known for his sartorial prowess, this young actor turned every preconceived notion on its head with this bold and fabulous look. The next day, he arrived for another show dressed in head-to-toe Celine down to the cargo shorts, proving his dress sense is as versatile as his acting.

Another head-turner has been Taylor Russell, who walked the runway with Chalamet. It would have been easy to be blown away by that look, however Russell held her own in a sheer, emerald green Balenciaga Couture gown.

Elsewhere, several actresses also helped change expectations by walking the red carpet in masculine tuxedos. Magnificent star Luana Giuliani ditched the jacket, while Paola Minaccioni wore all black with a corset. Meanwhile, Rosabell Laurenti chose to wear an all-red satin suit for her outing.

In addition to many classic black dresses, laced a la Mia Goth at Dolce & Gabbana, or deeply structured like Isabelle Huppert at Balenciaga, other celebrities took the opportunity to throw in some serious color. Francesca Sofia Novello looked lovely in pink Rami Al Ali, while Jodie Turner-Smith wore an electric blue dress by Harbison. Turner-Smith is gaining a well-deserved reputation for her style at these awards, and this latest look only adds to her fashion appeal.

Drusilla Foer, meanwhile, looked gorgeous in a lemon yellow caftan dress by Valentino, while Penelope Cruz went for hot pink sequined florals in her Chanel gown.

And it wasn’t just the women who broke the black dress code, with perhaps the most memorable pop of color coming from Mariano Di Vaio, who donned a turquoise Dolce & Gabbana tuxedo. A smart style move, complementing his wife Eleonora Brunacci, who was dressed in crystal-encrusted black Dolce & Gabbana.
