The Fashion Commission of Saudi Arabia signs a memorandum for the development of the fashion sector


The Saudi Arabian Fashion Commission recently agreed with the King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) to study the possibility of setting up a local research center within the university’s research and technology department to innovate sustainable solutions in textiles and fashion. . Local and global companies and experts will work with the center.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by the commission with the university for joint collaboration in harnessing technology and scientific research to develop the kingdom’s fashion sector and empower university students and local talent in the textile sector.

The agreement covered the possibility of developing and implementing entrepreneurship programs, localization of relevant skills, research and innovation initiatives in materials, fashion and textiles, media reports from the kingdom said.

The Memorandum of Understanding includes the possibility for the commission to provide resources and logistical support to foster emerging technologies in small enterprises, domestic and international companies offering sustainable technologies, smart textiles and technical clothing.

It also has scope for cooperation in providing training, employment opportunities for young Saudis in the fashion sector and joint work between the commission and the university in providing cooperation opportunities for university students in the sector.
