Atlanta, January 20, 2023-(BUSINESS WIRE)– The Pulte Group (NYSE: PHM) board of directors today announced the results of an investigation into a former employee’s alleged violation of the company’s code of conduct regarding the misuse of social media. As previously stated, the company confirmed the violations of the code and immediately terminated the former employee.
As part of the Board’s fiduciary duty to fully evaluate this incident, the Board retained King & Spalding LLP to conduct a fully independent investigation of the allegations. King & Spalding’s efforts are led by John Horne, former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Georgia, who has more than 25 years of experience in government and internal investigations.
The investigation determined the following.
-
The former employee set up several different Twitter accounts that he used to make critical comments about certain members of the Pulte family.
-
The former employee worked alone. There was no involvement or knowledge of his behavior by other company employees.
-
There is no evidence that the former employee used artificial intelligence or other automated technology, such as a bot network, to post on Twitter.
“The Pulte Group board of directors and management team deeply regret the posting of inappropriate comments on social media and the violation of the standards we hold for all employees,” said Pulte Group Chairman Thomas Folliard. “We have the utmost respect for our creator and his family to have a positive relationship with the company. After this comprehensive review, we will consider this investigation complete and closed.”
