The Riviera Beach business has made Oprah Winfrey’s ‘favorite things 2022’ list

A Riviera Beach charcuterie company is getting national attention.

The company Borderry has made a list of Oprah Winfrey’s favorite things for 2022.

It’s not hard to see why. Aaron Menitoff and Rachel Solomon, co-founders of Borderry, gave WPTV an up-close look at the beloved Charcherry board.

“It’s a wine-infused cheese, this goat cheese with rose petals, it’s a really funky flavor that you can’t find in your local grocery store,” Solomon said.

Those are just two of the 35 elements that make up the artisanal cheese meats, nuts, dried fruits, jams, olives and crackers collection.

“We get these things from England, Spain, Italy,” Menitoff said. “We get them all year round, and the management team, we’ve all been to different parts of Europe this summer looking for these products.”

Menitoff and his wife, Julie Menitoff, They started the charcuterie company, formerly known as Cheeseboarder, in 2020 when the pandemic shut down their special events business.

“It really stopped our entire business in its tracks. We were shocked. “We had to figure out something to keep the workers employed and generate income, so we came up with this concept,” Menitoff said.

Realizing that meat and cheese plates were quickly growing in popularity, they moved from catering to carrying charcuterie.

“In the culinary space, cheese and charcuterie have been one of the fastest growing trends. We noticed that everyone was making these gift baskets, so we designed a process where we could create a board that would ship overnight nationwide.

Now, two years later, Menitoff and Solomon are humbled to receive recognition from Winfrey.

“It’s really confidence-building. I mean, it was an adventure and it’s something we’ve been talking about,” Menitoff said.

“We saw a lot of other brands that made it onto Oprah’s list, and it was something we were really excited about and really hoping to be included. And then one day now they came to us,” Solomon said.

Menitoff added, “We’re excited to see Oprah’s influential direction.

A big part of the process is keeping the ingredients fresh. Menitoff, Solomon and his team showed WPTV inside their food safety storage facility, where they keep dozens of pounds of cheese and fresh meats that don’t last long in the refrigerator.

“They’re cut fresh and shipped the next day,” says Menitoff.

Angel Guerez, Border’s COO, also plays a vital role in selecting artisans.

“I was a sommelier in Italy, working in a three-Michelin-star restaurant in Florence for ten years, and I learned a lot about cheese and wine there. When I came to America, I had the great opportunity to be a part of this company,” Gerez said.

Gerez also has an engineering degree. In addition to helping select the types of cheese the Boarderie uses, designing an efficient production process has allowed the company to ship more than three thousand boards in eight hours.

“We live, eat and breathe Borders. We love it,” Menitoff said.

To date, Boarderie has shipped nearly 60,000 boards to both private customers and businesses, some of which include large tech companies.

“We’re doing hundreds of these every month, just for different corporations. We have a lot of local support and we’re struggling to do this,” Minetoff said. “We couldn’t have better partners, better employees, or have more fun doing what we do. So we’re thrilled.”

Borderie’s latest charcuterie board even has Oprah’s signature.
